The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The movie that I saw was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This is a romance, mystery, drama and fantasy type movie. Over all I would give this movie a 5/5.

Plot

Elderly Daisy Williams, is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary explains his entire extraordinary life. It tells us the unusual aspect of which Benjamin is aging backwards. This all happends because he is diagnosed with several aging diseases at birth, that gives him little chance of survival. Benjamin does survive and gets younger with time. Benjamin is abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth. His father drops him off at a seniors home and there he is raised by a black woman who is the caregiver, named Queenie. Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remained in contact throughout their lives. They finally reconnect in their forties when their age has finally matched up. Some of the things that Benjamin had wrote in his diary are difficult for Caroline to read. Especially, as it relates to the reconnection between Benjamin and Daisy. As Daisy gets older, Benjamin grows younger into his childhood years.

Acting

The acting in this movie is mind blowing. They were all so good. Some of the actors in this movie are Brad Pit(Benjamin Button), Cate Blanchett(Daisy), Jason Flemying(Thomas Button), and Taraji P. Henson(Queenie). I thought all these actors really were outstanding, they were perfect for their roles. Brad Pit was phenomenal in this movie. He was really into his character from the moment he was really old, to the moment he was really young, I believed he was that age. You could see that every part of him was into this character, especailly the eyes. Over all I though the acting was outstaning.

Specail Effects/ Cinematography

What Can I say, without special effects this movies wouldn't be the same. The make up in this movies, was amazing. To make Brad Pit look so old when he really isn't, and make him younger than he really is, was unbelievable. I couldn't believe it was the same person. Not only was the make up for Brad Pit outstanding, but everyone around him too. As he was getting younger, everyone around him was getting older.

I really enjoyed the cinematography in this movie. The variety of shots and angles were great for this kind of movie. It dragged you in instead of boaring you.

Final Comments

Over all I loved this movies. It's is one of my favourites now. The movie was just about 3 hours long, but to me, that time flied by. It felt like I just got into my seat and the next thing I know I'm leaving the movie theater. I think if you like romantic movies that have a twist to them, you'll like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Over all I would give this movie 5/5 . The plot. acting, special effects, and cinematorphy was AMAZING!!!

It's a very simple plot.

The acting is ok with Idris Elba as Derek the father, lover, and dad he plays it good.
Beyoncé Knowles did "ok" could have been better as Sharon the wife it seemed a little high school her acting but it was ok.
And Ali Larter as Lisa the "Lover" "Stalker" she played it good
very dramatic 24/7 but over all iffy on the acting skills

SPECIAL EFFECTS/ CINEMATOGRAPHY:
There was really no special effects in this movie but the cinematography was good in this movie one of the only good things in it and the camara shots were also pretty good in this movie.

Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia!

Musical/ Comedy

3.5/5

Plot: Mamma Mia is the story about a young woman named Sophie (played by Big Love’s Amanda Seyfried) who discovers that she has three possible fathers a few days before she is getting married. She decides to invite all the possible daddies to the wedding without telling her mother, Donna (played by Meryl Streep). Of course, eventually chaos ensues. Donna discovers that all three of the men are at the wedding but they won’t say why, and Sophie is too busy trying to figure out which guy she should ask to walk her down the aisle. To aid in the telling of the story; all scenes are accompanied by classic ABBA songs redone by the cast.

Acting: Amanda Seyfried is no longer the ditzy Karen Smith from Mean Girls. It is safe to say that she has blossomed into a fine actor. Not only that but she is a wonderful singer with a delicate voice with wide range. Her acting is freshingly powerful and convincing for such a bigger than life musical. Her fiancĂ© in the movie played by Dominic Cooper is dashing and handsome. It is easy to see why Sophie loves his character so much in the movie. Pierce Brosnan (The old James Bond), Stellan Skarsgard (Orlando Blooms father in Pirates 3), and Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’ Diary) are all good actors in their roles as the three possible fathers. They all have different characteristics that bring a new dynamic to the plot; their singing though is nowhere near Grammy winning. Meryl Streep is amazing as always, and at the end of the movie you really just end up saying, “Well is their anything she can’t do?”

Special Effects etc.: Not many special effects were noticed during the movie but tit did have some incredible panning and wide camera shots that helped all the dance numbers.

Final Comments: Mamma Mia is a fun movie and is not to be taken to seriously, but it’s not going to win Academy Awards because there really isn’t all that much depth to it at all. It’s a good movie to watch with your friends on DVD. This movie is really meant for people who enjoy musicals and all the cheesiness that go along with them. Again, your enjoyment of the film will depend on your love or hatred of ABBA songs. In the end, a big plus of the movie is getting to see all the beautiful shots of Greece. The negative is Pierce Brosnan in a sparkly spandex outfit at the end of the film, his singing sounding about as good as a cat gargling oatmeal… it had to be said.

Freaky Friday

Freaky Friday
Comedy
4/5

PLOT: Freaky Friday is about mainly two people a mom and her daughter
Tess Coleman played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Anna Coleman played by Lindsay Lohan
Who are the typical mom and teenaged daughter who fight about everything and Anna always thinks her mom doesn’t get her and that her mom is ruining her life.
And one night Anna and her band get a opportunity to play with there band at a audition called the wango tango but it just happens to be the same night as her moms wedding rehearsal .She says to her band mates she will talk to her mom.
Later that night her family goes to dinner at a Chinese restaurant that they go to a lot.
She tried to talk to her mom about it when they start fighting, then a old lady offers them a fortune cookie they take it and open it and the fortune inside is that they have to live each others life until they learn to get along. Then for three days they got to live as the other one and go though challenges then Friday comes witch is the moms wedding rehearsal and the audition and they lean that they can do both at the same time and that night they switch back to themselves.

ACTING: The acting in this movie is hard because they had to be two people not only the daughter but the mother too. Not only did Jamie and Lindsay do a good job but they pulled it off very well. I think they did well at this because Jamie Lee Curtis has done a lot of different roles before and Lindsay Lohan has played a twin before when she was younger in the movie “The Parent Trap” together they worked well in this movie to make it a funny good movie to watch.

SPECIAL EFFECTS/ CINEMATOGRAPHY: This movie doesn’t have a lot of special effects. But the shot angles are medium and wide shots which work good in this movie, There was not that much music but when there was the music made the scene better and it made me realize that music is what makes a movie a movie.

FINAL COMMENTS: This movie was all over good but the acting could have been better in the characters that are not as big, And this movie is a remake of the 1976 version of Freaky Friday and maybe because I watched both I think that with almost all movies the first is usually better and this was no different but I enjoyed it and it’s a good “girl” movie to watch .

Role Model Movie Review

THE HEADING:
1.) Role Model
2.) Comedy
3.) 4/5 stars

PLOT:
Danny and Wheeler are two salesmen who spend their days selling energy drinks to kids. Wheeler loves his job but Danny is getting tired of it, and issues in his personal life finally pushes him past the breaking point. Danny’s actions land both he and Wheeler in legal trouble, and to keep out of jail they’re forced to join a big brother program called “Sturdy Wings”. Once Danny and Wheeler enter the Sturdy Wings program, they are forced to give up their lives and dedicate most of their time to the kids. How they interact with the kids is simply hilarious. As the movie progesses, Danny and Wheeler are placed in various situations they cannot handle with the kids. Wheeler is assigned to a mouthy little boy named Ronnie, who swears and slaps a lot. As the movie goes on, we realize how badly Ronnie needs a father figure. Danny is assigned to a boy named Augie Farks. He spends his days with a group of geeks, wearing capes, playing with swords, and being invoved in huge games at the park, along with his other friends. Due to Danny and Wheeler's lack of experience with children, this important job seems nearly impossible.

ACTING:
I thought Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott) were very realistic characters, simply because they played the roles of two average men. I'm sure a lot of men watching the movie could relate, especially with their reactions to certain situations involving the kids. The roles of the children played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Augie) and Bobb'e J. Thompson (Ronnie) brought the film to a whole other level. I thought the film would not have been as entertaining and funny as it was, if it hadn't been for the incredible acting job done by these young boys. I don't think any of the characters were sterotypes. Overall, i thought the characters were not only very interesting to watch, but also quite well-developed. I enjoyed watching the variety of personalities portrayed by each character and the strong acting that came along with it.

SPECIAL EFFECTS, CINEMATOGRAPHY, MUSIC SCORE, CAMERA SHOTS, EDITING, ETC.:
There were many different types of shots used in this movie. The shots varied, depending on the scene and the interactions between each character. A lot of the movie took place outdoors which was very appealing for the audience (great lighting). The music selection stood out for me the most during the movie. The upbeat tempo went perfect with most of the scenes.

FINAL COMMENTS:
I recommend this movie for anyone who just wants to have a good laugh. I think the target audience would be for ages 15 and up. Simply because some of the humor is intended to be understood by that particular age group. It's a comedy worth seeing because of its' unique plot and interesting characters, however the humor used is very controversial for some (sexuality, language, etc.) and enjoyed by others.

BASEketball
Comedy
5/5

PLOT
Baseketball is about two avergage men who have no maturity at all. They can't really do anything well except shoot hoops. So they decide to invent a sport called "BASEketball" which is a cross between Baseball and basketball. This way they can use their skill of shooting basketballs while not having to run very much. The sport soon catches on quickly and becomes a world renown event. Like all sports other things start to get in the way such as team merchandise and people trying to buy other teams. This starts to make the sport of baseketball divide until Coop the main character decides that he is going to change all of this. And so him and his team play their hearts out in this fun comedy that will keep you laughing.

ACTING
The acting that takes place in this movie is simply hilarious. The two main actors Matt Stone and Trey Parker are the two creators of South Park the animated comedy show that is still to this day on television. The proceed in making subtle jokes throughout the movie that will get the audience laughing. Their casual and dry sense of humor is definetly for a certain crowd but is still funny regardless. Although making a lot of dirty potty jokes some of them involve quite some thought which is sometimes a positive for people who like to have jokes that make them think. But overall I thought the acting was great and very funny.

SPECIAL EFFECTS/ CINEMATOGRAPHY
Because this film was a comedy and doesn't involve a lot of special effects, it is hard to say anything about it. The music was that of a good comedy and really helped set the mood at times. The camera shots consisted of mostly medium and wide shots to keep it easy on the audience. It also had quite a bit of close-ups on the characters facial expressions to emphasize a point. It also gave it a comdy aspect by allowing the characters to speak without using words.

FINAL COMMENTS
I believe that this film has a target audience of younger adolesences and adults who have a fairly large sense of humor. If you prefer the textbook jokes and politically correct jokes then I highly suggest you stay away from this film. But if you have do have a sense of humor that can handle the so called "potty humor" then I highly suggest watching this film. The films main strangth is it has all the basic essentials in making a movie and thats it. It didnt try to make the story too complex. It kept it simple allowing the audience to be more focused on the jokes that were being made over the progress of the movie.

The Hulk Movie Review

THE HULK
Action/Sci-Fi/Thriller
Rating: 3.5/5

PLOT: Academy Award nominee Edward Norton stars as scientist Bruce Banner, a man who has been living in the shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote to the unbridled force of rage within him(The Hulk). But when the military masterminds who dream of exploiting his powers force him back to civiliztion, he find himself coming face to face with his most formidable foe(The Abomination). A nightmarish beast of pure aggression who's powers match The Hulk's own. Also starring Liv Tyler, Oscar nominee Tim Roth, and Oscar winner William Hurt, The Incredible Hulk is stepped in action and spectacular special effects and delivers a mind-blowing final showdown that can only be summed up with one word...INCREDIBLE

Acting: In this film there was 1 Oscar winner and 3 nominations. Overall the acting in this movie was really good. Edward Norton was great playing The Hulk. It was action filled and a way better movie then The Hulk in 2003. If there was actually a Hulk in real life today Edward Norton would be it. IN his acting during the movie he seems like hes a kind calm guy, but hes just hiding someone thing from everyone. He made it seem almost realistic.

Special Effects: The effects in this movie are just great. Explosions, Hulk Smash, the Hulk and Abomination themselves...the effects in this movie made it what it was. Im happy that they redid this film into more or a action filled special effected movie.

Final Comments: Tony Spark (Ironman) appearing at the end made the movie even more exciting and left fans of marvel thinking. There still has to be a Captian America Movie and a Thore Movie before they reunite them all in the next Avengers Movie.
